15 Minutes Away on Foot: Play Tennis in Forsyth Park

February 7, 2011

Think all there is to do in Savannah is touring historic sites, eating at great restaurants, and taking in the art scene?

This week, we highlight the Tennis Courts in Forsyth Park. The tennis courts are located at the south end of Forsyth Park, near the corner of Drayton Street and East Waldburg Street.

Popular with the locals, the Forsyth Park tennis courts are well maintained by the City’s Park Services Division and are free and open to the public. There is no set “court schedule” – play is “first-come, first-serve.” With 4 hard courts, wait time is fairly short. If there is a wait for a court, the Sentient Bean coffee shop and cafe as well as Brighter Day grocery are located just across East Park Ave from the courts. Both of these shops offer food and drink and have outdoor seating. (also a great option if you want to grab a drink after your round of tennis)

The tennis courts are open daily.

Getting to the tennis courts in Forsyth Park from the Catherine Ward House Inn by foot is very easy. From door to court, it takes as little as 1-3 minutes to walk between the two.
