Events happening this weekend (12/3-5) include:

12/2 – 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM, Downtown Design District Open House.

Come tour one of the most stylish and festive collections of boutique shops in Savannah. The Design District Open House is hosted by the boutique shops in the district – specializing in home decor, antiques, art, unique clothing, and jewelry. Stores will be open these extended hours and feature special in-store events, guests, and snacks catered by area restaurants and caterers.


12/3 – 7 PM, First Friday Oyster Roast and Fireworks, River Street.

Enjoy a Lowcountry tradition the first Friday of each month, with the First Friday Oyster Roast and Fireworks series. Oyster Roast held at The Westin Hotel. Fireworks can be enjoyed anywhere along River Street.

Oysters by the bucket, lowcountry boil, tasty grill items, a full bar and s’mores by the firepit satisfy the young and old, as well as the landlubbers and seafarers alike. Adventure Radio curates live local bands chosen to suit the fun, casual, riverside atmosphere.

Fireworks Extravaganza presented by the Savannah Waterfront Association at 9:30.

12/4 – 9 AM – 8 PM, First Saturday Holiday Festivities, River Street and Broughton Street.
Regional arts and crafts and live Holiday entertainment highlights this Multicultural Holiday Celebration! This festival offers unique shopping in an old world setting of charm and history! The official arrival of Ol’ St. Nick and the magic of the Lighted Parade begins Saturday at 5:30pm and courses its way down River, Bay, Abercorn and Broughton Streets!



12/4-5 – 6:30 PM and 3:00 PM, “The Nutcracker,” Presented by the Children’s Ballet Theatre, at Trustees Theatre, 216 E. Brougton Street

The Children’s Ballet Theatre of The Academy of Dance, presents the holiday classic, “The Nutcracker,” featuring professional guest artists Heather Cahoon as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Jhe Russell as the Nutcracker Prince and Jake Givens partnering Cahoon as the Cavalier. The production also features Academy of Dance and Savannah Arts Academy student Evan McGaughey as Clara and students from all of the ballet classes, aged pre-school thru high school, in supporting roles.

Tickets ($30 each) can be purchased online, by phone at 912-525-5050, at the Savannah Box Office window, 216 E. Broughton St., or at the door 1 hour prior to the event.

11/12-12/30, 2010 – “Small Works 2010,” at the Gutstein Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St.

The SCAD exhibitions department presents the “Small Works 2010” annual sales exhibition including original pieces by SCAD students, faculty, alumni and staff. This exhibition showcases a wide range of media from painting, drawing and illustration to sculpture, photography and mixed media. Bringing together the exceptional work of numerous SCAD artists in one location, “Small Works” presents affordable original art for $500 or less.
